At Kirby, Sustainability is about protecting our environment and communities – now and for future generations. We aim to promote sustainability through responsible business practices and providing a safe working environment for staff, building users and the surrounding community.
Our Sustainability Strategy and Roadmap below builds on the great work already happening across the business and sets out a clear direction for the years ahead across our three sustainability pillars of People, Planet, and Principles.
It reflects our continued commitment to embedding sustainable practices into the way we work, ensuring that sustainability remains a core part of our business and our future.

- Use of Raw Materials

- Energy Conservation
Planet
As a member of the engineering and construction industry, the health, safety and welfare of each employee is a priority that we must get right every time.
We focus on developing our people and support further training programmes. We promote diversity and inclusion, and we are committed to fair and ethical recruitment practices. We ensure equal opportunities exist for all and that a good work-life balance is promoted amongst all personnel.
Our commitment to a positive, supportive workplace environment is demonstrated by retaining our ‘We Invest in People’ Platinum accreditation and achieving the ‘We Invest in Wellbeing’ Gold accreditation in 2024.
We also maintained our Investors in Diversity Silver award which recognises our commitment to inclusive practices and developing and fostering a sense of fairness and belonging for our team members.
Kirby is a key stakeholder in our local communities and therefore shares some of the same concerns that others have within these communities.
We continue our commitment through ongoing participation in various initiatives that promote social diversity and social inclusion within these communities. Furthermore, we continue to develop our relationships with third level institutions to deepen our community integration.
Principles
At Kirby, we are committed to robust governance frameworks that promote responsible decision-making, compliance with regulations, and stakeholder engagement.
In line with our commitment to transparency and regulatory compliance, we have taken significant steps to align with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). We completed our Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) in Q1 2025, a critical process that identifies the most significant sustainability impacts, risks, and opportunities related to our business operations and external environment.
