Kirby has successfully delivered contestable HV/MV substation projects for ESB Networks, EirGrid, Scottish Power, large industry facilities and wind developers, connecting over 2GW of renewable energy to the grid in the UK and Ireland.
We are fully accredited with Lloyds NERS, Achilles UVDB and Achilles Sellicha; we are representatives of various country-specific Wind Energy Associations and regularly contribute to industry discussion papers as a leading T&D focused contractor.
Electrical Services and Instrumentation
Kirby has acquired extensive experience in delivering electrical, instrumentation and ancillary systems for its clients across various sectors, including data centres, life sciences, industrial manufacturing and commercial.
Our in-depth expertise ranges from delivering large scale electrical systems on hyper-scale data centre projects, pharmaceutical projects, and ATEX and COMAH classified industrial facilities where we deliver complex instrumentation systems.
Our people have gained a reputation for knowledge, capability and unparalleled experience within these specialist disciplines and we believe that the quality of our personnel is our key differentiator. Our electricians and instrument technicians are highly regarded within the industry and we continuously focus in providing continuous training to maximise their potential.
We work very closely with our supply chain partners on the specification, installation and commissioning of systems such as fire alarm, intruder, CCTV, access control and building energy management systems to ensure the delivery of a fully-integrated electrical installation on site.
Mechanical, Piping & HVAC Services
As a fully-integrated services contractor, Kirby specialises in the delivery of industrial and commercial HVAC systems, installation of mechanical plant and equipment, as well as process pipework services.
Our attention to detail and particular focus on quality, coordination and planning, plays a significant part in the overall project success. The strength of our supply chain and project management structures ensures that our client’s project needs are always met.
We operate within the highly-regulated sectors including bio-pharma and mission critical, delivering cooling services to large-scale data centres. We also deliver mechanical building services in the commercial office market. We supply, install and commission to the required standards and conform to client requirements with respect to cleaning protocols, traceability and documentation.
Off-Site Manufacturing (OSM)
Pre-fabrication, modularisation and digital construction are employed on most of our projects to drive efficiency throughout the build process. Through early engagement and collaboration, our approach allows us to continuously deliver value to our clients by making a positive impact on key project drivers such as programme, Q-EHS, budget and building life cycle costs, while ensuring the best possible project outcome for our clients.
Kirby has utilised off-site fabrication and modular construction approach for many years and has dedicated workshops to meet specific client requirements. The benefits of OSM can be summarised as follows:
- Reduced on-site construction duration.
- Reduced management costs and risk.
- Higher quality of final product is achieved more efficiently in a controlled factory environment specifically set up for fabrication.
- Depending on the module type, manufacturing in factory environment can generate additional cost savings even when additional structural and transportation costs are considered.
- Reduced on site commissioning duration post functional module testing off-site.
We have a selection of case studies that provide the details on the recently completed projects involving modular construction.
