PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Kirby was responsible for the installation of mechanical services for a new industrial manufacturing facility in an existing warehouse.

The facility included warehousing, indoor tanking for manufacturing, external tank farm and an external chiller yard. The existing building floor area was increased to accommodate the new facility mezzanine level AHU plant room.

Fabrication drawings were developed using BIM.  A significant proportion of pipework, including pipe modules, were prefabricated off-site which reduced the requirement for on-site welding.

SCOPE OF WORKS

Kirby was responsible for the installation of mechanical services including the commissioning and balancing of air and water systems.

The mechanical systems installed by Kirby included:

  • Chilled Water
  • Low Temperature Hot Water
  • Steam & Condensate
  • Natural Gas
  • Supply & Extract Ventilation Ductwork
  • Process Ingredient Lines
  • Clean In Place (CIP)
  • Process Waste
  • Soils & Waste
  • Domestic Water Services
  • Plastic Exhaust
  • Stainless Exhaust
  • RO Water
  • DWS Systems including sanitary ware

Installed plant items included Steam & LPHW Boilers, Ingredient Tanks, Chillers, AHUs, LPHW Pumps, CHW Pumps, Booster Sets and Pressurisation Units.

The total project meterage included 10,000m of pipework and 13,500m² of duct.
