Kirby Way Cycle Fundraising Hits New Heights in 2025

The 2025 Kirby Way Cycle raised more than €500,000 for good causes, a record amount for the event which hit the roads around Portlaoise on August 22nd. Almost 300 people took part this year, including Kirby team members, partners, suppliers, family and friends.

Conditions were great on the day for the three event groups – a 50km cycle, a 100km cycle and a 10km run. Each started and finished at Kirby’s off-site manufacturing facility outside Portlaoise town.

A record 19 good causes in Ireland and abroad will benefit from this year’s proceeds. Irish beneficiaries include The Jack and Jill Foundation, ISPCC, The Irish Kidney Association, MS Ireland, Warriors for Humanity, Hand in Hand, East Galway & Midlands Cancer Support, Jigsaw, the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, Milford Care Centre, and Chime.

The Kirby Way Cycle is also designed to support good causes based at the firm’s international locations, and this year they include The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds, Els for Autism (South Africa), Rainbow of Hope (South Africa), Matakuten (Sweden), AIRC (Italy), Diabetes UK, and Young Ealing Foundation (UK).

CEO Henry McCann says this project is a good example of how Kirby prioritises People – its number one core value: “The Kirby Way Cycle does good on several levels. It’s a brilliant opportunity for colleagues and supply chain partners from across projects to meet up for a fun day out. The atmosphere is brilliant around the town on the day and we get great support. And most importantly, it delivers much-needed support to organisations here and abroad that put the funds raised to good use”.

Kirby’s Director of Operations Mikey Ryan says he’s delighted: “The event itself lasts one day but months of worthwhile preparation go into the Kirby Way Cycle each year and it’s a pleasure to lead the organising team. I’d like to thank all of my colleagues, participants and support teams like Laois Civil Defence, Portlaoise Town Council, the National Ambulance Service, and Gardai, because we couldn’t do this – and boost good causes – without their help”.

Thank you to our supply chain partners for their support in our fundraising efforts for our 2025 event.
