PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Kirby was appointed to complete the installation of the balance of plant for the mechanical and electrical services for the Greenlink High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converter station in County Wexford, Ireland.
The overall project involved the construction of a 500MW HVDC Interconnector, linking the electricity grids of Ireland and Great Britain. This project was the first HVDC Interconnector build within Ireland in the past decade.

Installed plant equipment included 26 nr. Distribution Boards 70 nr. Control & Protection Panels, 4 nr. Battery Systems, 4 nr. Convertor Taffos, 2 nr. Aux Power Transformers, 220kV GIS Board and 275kV AIS Equipment.
The total project meterage consisted of over 75km of cable, circa 3,000 joints and installation of 300 meters of 220kV UG Cable.
