PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Kirby was responsible for the design and build of Fort Augustus GSP reinforcement project.

The 132/33kV 15MVA Grid Transformer supplying Fort Augustus Grid Supply Point (GSP) at Fort Augustus substation was replaced with a new 132/33kV 90MVA Grid Transformer. This is due to 5.9MW of embedded generation being installed on the 33kV network at Fort Augustus.

Works consisted of the replacement of the 33kV disconnector, 33kV circuit breaker, 33kV Current Transformers and Voltage Transformers, a new 33kV cable connection from the replacement GT1 to the 33kV outdoor AIS compound and installing a 132/33kV 90MVA Grid Transformer.

The existing circuit breaker 505 and post current transformers were replaced as part of these works. This involved the installation of a SF6 free AIS 132kV circuit breaker which is the first of this type on the SSE network.
